LIXAR PRESENTS:
THE MEGAPHONO
ARTIST RETREAT

The MEGAPHONO Artist Retreat is an initiative created by Lixar and MEGAPHONO to help provide artists with a focused weekend to work on music. The selected artist will receive a tailor-made development program fully focused on helping the artist take steps towards success.

This program is made possible by a partnership with local high-tech outfit Lixar, a leader in mobile transportation technology in the Air, Auto and Telco industry sectors. Like MEGAPHONO, Lixar is passionate about helping local artists, and the MEGAPHONO Artist Retreat aims to do just that.

During MEGAPHONO, visiting music industry delegates cast a vote for one local showcasing artist that stands out to them during the festival, based on their performance and potential. The chosen artist will spend a 3-day weekend retreat at a studio (TBA), and will receive a coveted showcase slot at Pop Montreal in 2018.

MEGAPHONO conducts a needs assessment with the artist in advance of their retreat. Whether the artist needs to spend time writing, recording, planning an album release, or developing their music career in another way, MEGAPHONO works with them to make the most of their artistic retreat.

Trails at the 2017 MEGAPHONO Artist Retreat

The MEGAPHONO Artist Retreat is an initiative created by Lixar and MEGAPHONO to help provide artists with a focused weekend to work on music. Trails was selected by visiting delegates to MEGAPHONO 2017 this past February, from among the pool of local artists performing at the music showcase festival, to spend four days recording new material for future release. In mid-April she entered the studio at Port William Sound with songwriter/producer Jonas Bonnetta to record a brand new batch of songs.

MEGAPHONO and Lixar IT are proud to announce that Trails has been selected for the first ever MEGAPHONO Artist Retreat!

On April 7, Manotick's Allie O'Manique (aka Trails) enters the studio at Port William Sound with songwriter/producer Jonas Bonnetta to record a brand new batch of songs. The announcement took place in a short ceremony before Trails' set at the Ottawa Music Summit at the Junos this past weekend.

The MEGAPHONO Artist Retreat is a brand new initiative created by Lixar and MEGAPHONO to help provide artists with a focused weekend to work on music. Trails was selected by visiting delegates to MEGAPHONO 2017 this past February, from among the pool of local artists performing at the music showcase festival.

Trails will spend four days recording new material for future release. "I'm very excited to begin the magical process of recording my new album," says O'Manique.

"I'm super excited to be working on these songs with Trails," says Port William Sound's Bonnetta. "She sent me rad demos and I think they'll feel at home out in the countryside. The plan is to spend long days and late nights under lamp lights and wood stove flicker with all of the old gear blinking, and just let Trails wander from instrument to instrument to paint all of her songs."
